Robert "Bob" F. Games

Robert “Bob” F. Games, March 1, 1930 – December 27, 2021, 91, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 10 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2021 at Sunrise at Old Meridian, Carmel, IN.

 

He was born March 1, 1930, in La Porte, Indiana, to Charles F. and Leora Frances (Earl) Games.

 

Bob graduated in 1948 from La Porte High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. When he was discharged from the military, he worked as a mechanical engineer for a manufacturing company.  Bob graduated from Purdue University in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and received his Professional Engineering designation in 1963. He worked for several companies after college, such as Perfect Circle Corp for 10 years (Hagerstown, IN), Zimmer Corp for 8 years (Warsaw, IN), and Smith & Nephew for 19 years (Memphis, TN). Throughout his career in engineering, Bob was involved with International Standards organizations. Bob retired in 1995 as  Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Smith & Nephew. He was also actively involved in professional associations by serving 13 years as a consultant member and past president of I.S.P.E. and member and past president of O.S.M.A.

 

On August 22, 1953 in La Porte, Indiana, Bob married Eloise M. (Plumbach) Games, who preceded him in death on April 28, 2010.

 

Also preceding in death were his parents; one sister, Charlene Games; four brothers, George, Don, Kenny and Elmer Games; and one daughter, Cheryl (Games) Antil.

 

Surviving are his two daughters, Cherise A. (Kris) Gaza of Noblesville, and Therise G. (Marc) Ruffin of Carlsbad, California; six grandchildren, Matt, Michelle, Mallory Antil, Megan (Gaza) Plotner, Stefanie (Gaza) Hutchinson, and Garrett Ruffin; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Father Pat Gaza officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
