Muriel Louise Berryman

Muriel Louise Berryman, 89, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 with her family by her side.

 

Muriel was born on September 4, 1932 in Chicago, IL, to Ralph and Luella (Swanberg) Erickson.

 

Surviving are her five children, Vicki (Larry) Deutscher, Pamela (Walter) Armstrong, Judith Steigely, Dale (Carol) Moyer, and Jeff (Laura) Moyer.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and sons, Robert Moyer, Jr. and Barry (Lyn) Moyer.

 

Muriel came to La Porte in 1939.  She attended Stillwell School and graduated from La Porte High School.  Muriel was the manager of the La Porte Theatre from 1968 to 1973.  She worked at the Center Township Assessor’s Office where she retired as Chief Deputy after 21 years.  Muriel also worked part-time at the County Assessor’s Office on the Board of Appeals for three years.  In her final working years, she worked part-time as a “Sticker Lady” for the Michigan City Park Department.

 

Muriel was a 65-year member of the La Porte Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a member of the La Porte Business Girls, Pine Lake Grange, and the Red Hat Ladies.  In addition, she volunteered for the Red Cross.

 

Muriel really enjoyed her seven children, 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 7 great, great-grandchildren.

 

Her family was her most precious accomplishment in life.  She loved talking to family and friends, reading and puzzle books were a favorite pastime along with her dog, Baxter.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A private family memorial at a later date.
