Janis Kay Blacker, 75, of Union Mills, Indiana passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021.  

 

Janis was born September 29, 1946, in Valparaiso, Indiana to Frank Graham Hawkins and Rachael (Snook) Chiddister.

 

On October 23,1965, Janis married James Arthur Blacker who preceded her in death on July 7, 1971. Janis was a homemaker and a member of American Legion post 434 of Kingsford Heights.    

 

She is survived by her daughter; Kathleen (Randy) Mitchell of Hamlet; grandchildren, James Alan Williams, Clay James Mitchell, and Shaun Lucas Mitchell; and a sister, Dawn Marie Aumiller of Union Mills. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Carden; and brothers, James Hawkins, Frank Hawkins, and Edward Hawkins.  

 

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Pastor William Bushong will officiate. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery.
