Jennifer S. Hunter, 48, of La Porte, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 9, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.

 

She was born March 18, 1973, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Lawrence and Marjorie (Kuhnel) Wozniak.

 

Jennifer graduated from Purdue North Central and earned her Registered Nurse certification. She was a Registered Nurse for Porter Regional Hospital, now Northwest Health Porter for 15 years. Jennifer had a passion for Chihuahuas, caring for many over the years. She enjoyed many things like hiking through The Dunes and Mount Baldy and traveling and cruising around with her husband. Jennifer loved her family especially her children and grandchildren.

 

On May 17, 2003, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married David Scott Hunter, who survives.

 

Also surviving are her mother, Marjorie Wozniak of Michigan City; six children, Mallory (Ryan) Wales of Bloomington, MI, Amanda Hunter and Steven O’Dell both of La Porte, Tyler (Briana) Hunter of Las Vegas, NV, Chase Hunter and Elizabeth (Hailey Prater) O’Dell both of Michigan City; two siblings, Amy (Chris) Williams and Christopher (Jill) Wozniak both of Michigan City; and five grandchildren, Phoenix, Maverick, Emmett, Kennedy and Henry.

 

Preceding in death were her father; and grandparents.

 

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Father David Kime officiating. A Tribute from the Northwest Indiana Nurse Honor Guard will take place at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2021 prior to the service at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2021 and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.
