John A. Hartz, 75, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his home.

 

John was born on December 26, 1945, in La Porte, IN, to Carl Kenneth and Isabelle M.(Moser) Hartz.

 

On February 14, 1996 in Knox, IN, he married Diann E. Bradley, who survives.  Also surviving are his daughters, Angel Hartz and Amy Hartz, both of La Porte; stepdaughter, Robin (Donald Sr.) Hughes of La Porte; stepson, Randy (Janeen) Messer of La Porte; 7 grandchildren, Jagger and Desney Comstock, both of La Porte, Zayda, Wyatt, and Christopher Messer, all of La Porte, Don (Amber) Hughes, Jr. of Rolling Prairie, and Christopher Hughes of La Porte; brother-in-law, Vance Richie of Mill Creek; 1 great-granddaughter, Izzabella Comstock; brothers-in-law, Steven (Korrie) Bradley of Knox and Gary Bradley of Knox; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Isaiah Hartz; brother, Jim Hartz; and sister, Kay Richie.

 

After 32 years, John retired from Lewis Bakery.  He enjoyed people, laughing, traveling, and tinkering at the woodshed.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Burial will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
