Bruce David Engle, 73, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Northwest Health - Porter.

 

Bruce was born on August 2, 1948 in Benton Harbor, MI, to Victor and Lucille (Dobbs) Engle.

 

On September 25, 1971 at St. John's Lutheran Church, La Porte, IN, he married Nancy Neuendorf who survives.  Also surviving are his children, Sarah (Eric) Biddinger of Rochester, IN and Brian (Jess) Engle of Hanover, IL; 3 grandchildren, Bryton, Avery, and Lily; sister, Karel (John) Dreessen of Hamlet, IN; as well as niece, Kristine (Dave) Egger of Hamlet, IN and nephew, John (Stephanie) Dreessen of Hamlet, IN.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Bruce was a Journeyman Plumber with Plumbers Local 210.  He loved fishing, football, nature, and his time serving.

 

Bruce proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, on board the U.S.S. Benjamin Stoddert (DDG-22).  His military service began in November 1968 and ended with an honorable discharge in November 1970.  While in the U.S. Navy, Bruce earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A Private Family Graveside Service will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.  A Public Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
