Claire Marie (Cannon) Passafume

Claire Marie (Cannon) Passafume was born June 17, 1945, in Saint Joseph Hospital to William and Florence Cannon of South Bend, Indiana. One month later, she was baptized at the Church of St. Joseph in South Bend, Indiana by Father Salvatore Fanelli.

Claire graduated from Rolling Prairie High School on May 20, 1965 and married her beloved Dan in St. Peter’s Catholic Church on October 1, 1966. They would spend the next 53 years together working and living in Florida, Michigan, and Indiana, traveling throughout North America in their trusty travel trailer, and even cruising to the Caribbean on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.

As an adult, Claire liked baking and canning, collecting dolls, playing online games and word searches, reading, traveling with her husband Dan to some of their favorite places like Mackinac Island and Frankenmuth in Michigan and Niagara Falls in New York, and spending time with friends, family, and the many fur babies they cared for along the way.

Claire was a loving and playful daughter, sister, niece, wife, aunt, and friend who left her husband, Dan, too soon.

Claire is survived by her brothers Michael (Dee) Cannon and John (Mary Ann) Cannon both of Rolling Prairie, Indiana and sisters, Kathleen (Curtis) Holmes of Elkhart, Indiana, and Karen (Ray) Garrett of LaPorte, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Florence (DeVleeschower) Cannon and her sisters, Margaret Carlson and Mary Hites.

Claire and Dan planned to spend the rest of their golden years exploring the sites and sounds of North America from their travel trailer. Since they can no longer venture on this journey, they hope that you can provide this journey to children in need by donating to KOA Care Camps in their memory.

A funeral mass will be held in their honor Saturday, November 6 at 10 a.m. CDT at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (1101 Michigan Ave, La Porte, IN 46350), followed by an inurnment at Pine Lake Cemetery (1367 Pine Lake Rd, La Porte, IN 46350). Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center will be handling services.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to KOA Care Camps at https://koa.com/community-camping-programs/care-camps/donations/.
