Jeffrey Paul Place, 64, of La Porte, passed away unexpectedly at 9:21 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2021 in his home.

 

He was born June 9, 1957, in La Porte, Indiana, to Willard Leslie Place and Mary Ann Louise (Tanger) Place.

 

Jeff worked as a press operator at the La Porte Herald Argus and had been employed there in numerous positions since the age of 16.  He loved his cats and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.  Jeff also enjoyed fishing and playing in softball leagues through the years.  He will be dearly missed and remembered as having one of the world’s biggest hearts. 

 

Surviving are his former wife, Sharon Place of La Porte; one brother, Jim (Linda) Place of Fort Wayne; one niece, Leslie Armstrong; and two nephews, Brian and Scott Place.

 

Preceding in death were his parents, Willard Place and Mary Ann Engle; and paternal grandmother, Gladys Place.

 

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
