Margaret "Peggy" Kay Hartman

Margaret “Peggy” Kay Hartman, 81, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 9:45 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Life Care Center, Michigan City.

 

She was born February 8, 1940, in Fulton, Indiana, to Carl Miller Ault and Ruth (Hendrickson) Lavonne Ault.

 

Margaret received her Master’s degree in medical administration and was a member of Eagles, La Porte. She enjoyed cooking and feeding others.  Margaret loved looking for new recipes, making cookies with her great grandchildren and canning. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening and caring for her plants and flowers.

 

On December 5, 1980, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Edward Hartman, who preceded her in death.

 

Also preceding in death were her parents; and one son, David Harner.

 

Surviving are four children, Dianne (Jim) Foran of La Porte, Lori (Pat) Baugh of Delphi, Douglas (Doreen) Hartman of Walkerton and Paul (Kimberly Ritter) Hartman of Michigan City; one sister, Dana (Les) Gurney of Fort Wayne; one brother, Carl (Rita) Ault of Rochester; four grandchildren, Sarah Murphy, Marissa (Bo) Reed, Lisa (Josh) Copp and Jay Baugh; and four great grandchildren, Sophia and Everett Murphy and Russell and Caroline Copp.

 

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
