Melissa “Missy” Ann Jones, 52, of La Porte, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 16, 2021 in her home.
She was born May 13, 1969, in Albany, Georgia, to Donald Wayne and Eloise (Ledbetter) Jones.
Missy attended Maranatha Christian Academy, Portage. She graduated with an Associates' degree in Medical Assisting from Ivy Tech Community College, Michigan City with the highest distinction, Summa Cum Laude in 2017. Missy was a medical assistant for Franciscan Physician Network, Michigan City. She enjoyed comedy, reading, music, watching the Cubs, and gaming on her phone in her free time. Missy adored her nieces and nephews. Her great-nieces and nephews called her Mimi, they adored her as well. She was a kind, caring and generous person and will be greatly missed by many.
Surviving are her parents, Donald Jones of Shelby, AL and Eloise Jones of La Porte; sisters, Kim (Floyd) Holt of La Porte and Cyndi Montgomery of Boise, Idaho; four nephews, Daniel (Brielle) Floyd III, Trevor and Nick; two nieces, Brandi (Markus) and Sarah (Deandrea); four great-nieces, Corina, Brooklynn, Carmen and Derriayn; seven great-nephews, Joshua, Jordyn, Zai, Dre Dre, Aidyn, Ethyn and Deakyn; special aunt, Kathy Ramirez; special cousin, Julie Bottomlee; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding in death were her maternal grandparents, Gertrude (Shadrix) and Ramon Ramirez; maternal grandfather, Monroe Bottomlee; and paternal grandparents, Iris Jones Karr and Chesley Jones.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Rev. James Ferguson officiating. Burial will take place at High Rock Cemetery, Hayden, AL.
