Danna “Dan” Leroy Greenlaw, 76, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Monday, September 20, 2021. He was born on August 11, 1945, in La Porte, Indiana to the late Charles Calvin and Mary Lou (Graham) Greenlaw.

 

Dan served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a licensed barber in LaPorte from 1965 until his retirement in 2012. In 1969, he bought The Rumley Hotel Barbershop. He moved his business from The Rumley Hotel to the first floor of the Olga Anderson building in 1987, and renamed the shop, Greenlaw’s Barbershop. He had also owned Dick’s Bar in La Porte for several years. He was active in the La Porte Bowling Association until the late 1990’s. He also played in men’s golf leagues at various golf courses, softball leagues at Scharf Field and basketball leagues at The Civic Auditorium for many years. He Loved Chicago White Sox Baseball, IU Basketball, Notre Dame Football, The Chicago Bears as well as The Colts. And of course, he was a big fan of any and all LaPorte Slicer Athletics. For the last 10 years, he never missed his granddaughter's softball games.

 

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Gale L. Greenlaw; two daughters, Lori J. Sheeler (Adam) of Indianapolis and Lana A. Mejan (Allen) of LaPorte; granddaughters, Madison L. Henderson (Richard) of Sumter, SC, Morgan G. Sheeler of Indianapolis, Mia I. Mejan and Olivia P. Mejan, both of LaPorte; nephews, Jeffrey C. Greenlaw (Connie) of LaPorte and Marcus E. Smith (Kathleen) of Valparaiso; nieces, Altina M. Greenlaw Byrd (Geoff Norris) of Rolling Prairie and Dana L. Henderson (David) of Carmel; one aunt, Leona “Onie” Graham-Brown (Herbert) of LaPorte; a multitude of cousins and a million dollars’ worth of friends.

 

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the funeral home, where family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
