Jess M. Miller, 68, of Rolling Prairie, passed away peacefully at 3:32 a.m., Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Northwest Health, La Porte.

 

He was born April 24, 1953, in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, to Merrill and Mary (Bass) Miller.

Jess honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was an auto body technician. Jess restored many cars and won many awards for his talent. He was an accomplished carpenter who restored and completed the home where he lived in Rolling Prairie. Jess was known to have a good sense of humor and enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms, working out, and spending time in nature. Jess was a proud and happy grandpa who also loved for his pets.

 

On May 28, 2005, in Porter, Indiana, he married Marcella “Marcey” G. (Hawkins) Miller, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his six children, Greg Miller of South Bend, Justin Miller of La Porte, Caitlin Miller of Muncie, Johnathan (Andrea) McNally of Chesterton, Timothy (Robin Fix) McNally of Charleston, SC and Christopher (Shannon) McNally of San Pierre; one sister, April Harradon of Rolling Prairie; and five grandchildren, Roman Miller and Ryan, Carter, Henry and Charles McNally.

 

Preceding in death were his parents, Merrill Miller and Mary Wright; one brother, Michael Miller; one sister, Dawn Heider; and one niece, Stephanie Cledenen.

 

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 with Deborah Hart officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
