Ronald Mitchell Sr., 73, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday September 5, 2021 at Golden Living Fountainview Place in La Porte, IN.

He was born March 7, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Raymond Mitchell and Ruth (Long) Mitchell.

Ron spent his career in sales with Bethlehem Steel and loved the game of soccer. At the age of 30 he became a player and played for over 40 years. He was still playing at the age of 69. He also enjoyed the outdoors spending time with his dogs and fishing and was a flight instructor for many years. Ron's true passion in life was the love he had for his family enjoying time with his grandson.

He was married to Diana Brown Mitchell who survives.

He is also survived by his mother Ruth Mitchell; two sons, Ronald Mitchell, Jr. of La Porte, IN, Sean (Sandra) Mitchell of Michigan City, IN; brother, Donald (Kathy) Mitchell; two sisters, Cheryl (George) Rutan, Marcia (John) Columbro; grandchild, Brody.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Bonnie Guthrie.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN, The family has chosen cremation.
