Marvin Eugene Witbeck

Marvin Eugene Witbeck, 88, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 6:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Brentwood at La Porte.

 

He was born September 2, 1932, in Evart, Michigan to William and Helen (Burdick) Witbeck.

 

Marvin honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserve, last ranking 1st Lieutenant. He graduated from Michigan State with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

 

After retiring in 1989 from Ferris State University as Controller, Marvin and Rosalie traveled to numerous places on their Bucket List which included an RV Caravan to Alaska and a European Bus Tour. In 2007, Marvin hiked to Machu Picchu in Peru with a group from Unity Church. Marvin & Rosalie lived in a number of states including; Michigan, Illinois, Virginia and North Carolina, before settling in LaPorte in 2010. He enjoyed golfing, softball, bowling and racquetball. Marvin was a Campaign Treasurer for The State Senator of Michigan, Joanne Emmons. He was a tutor for Read La Porte, a Certified Public Accountant and Reiki Master.

 

On September 1, 1956, he married Rosalie (Marcinkewciz) Witbeck, who survives. They shared 64 memorable years together.

 

Also surviving are his three children, Mark Witbeck of Savanna, GA, Tamara Witbeck of La Porte and Greg Witbeck of Ann Arbor, MI; siblings, Milnie Witbeck of Kalamazoo, MI, Richard Witbeck of Evart, MI and Mamie Brendahl and Muirel Walton both of Chesaning MI; grandchildren; Meghan DiUbaldo, Jordan Rodwell, Laura Bodeman and Analise Witbeck; and great-grandchildren, Emory DiUbaldo and Adalay DiUbaldo.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; brothers, Ted Witbeck, Billy Witbeck and Thomas Witbeck; and sisters, Josephine Griffey and Esther Spencer.

 

Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
