Raymond L. Weiss, Sr.,72, of Kingsford Heights, passed away unexpectedly at 8:17 a.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in his home.
He was born January 10, 1949, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Harold and Dorothy (Bundesman) Weiss.
Raymond worked as a material handler at Gunite Corporation, Elkhart, and at American Home Foods, La Porte before retiring. Raymond loved his family and enjoyed bike riding, gardening, crossword puzzles, bowling, fishing and hunting squirrel and rabbit.
On July 13, 1967, in Carmi, IL, he married the love of his life, Judy Weiss, who preceded him in death on May 21, 2007.
Also preceding in death were his parents; one son, Jeffery Weiss; two brothers, Robert Weiss and Harold Weiss Jr.; and two sisters, Henrietta Uzun and Barbara Jackson.
Surviving are his three sons, Ray (Sue Kozinski) Weiss Jr., Joey Weiss and Mike (Michelle) Weiss all of La Porte; five daughters, Angela (Bill) Kane of La Porte, Lisa (Jeff) Albertson of Kingsford Heights, Amy (Cody) Jedrysek of La Porte, Nicole (David) Webb of Kingsford Heights and Kristine Weiss of Kingsford Heights; three brothers, Norman Weiss of Mishawaka, David (Donna) Weiss of Michigan City and Martin (Ida) Weiss of Kingsford Heights; one sister, Carol (Rex) Miller of Texas; brother-in-law, Jerry Jackson of Michigan City; and 23 grandchildren; Tony, Jeffory, Bryan, Jimmy, Branden, Kylee, Lacey, Jacob, Chelsey, Matthew, Alexis, Maddie, Katie, Megan, Amanda, Beth, Oliver, Daren, Macie, Talia, Caisi, Megan and Amanda; great-children, Caiden, Jesse, Athena, Athen, Adriana, Isaak and Maverick.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte with Pastor John Haferkamp officiating. Visitation and viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday August 23, 2021 and from 10 a.m. until time-of-service Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, following the service.
