Dorothy Eunice Moellman

Dorothy Eunice Moellman, 93, of La Porte, peacefully passed away, with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Northwest Health - La Porte.

 

Dorothy was born on November 4, 1927 in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, to George E. and Laura E. (Bock) Flemming.

 

On April 24, 1949 in St. Clair Shores, MI, she married Carl Lewis Moellman, II, who preceded her in death.  Surviving Dorothy are her children, Laurann (Roger) Searing of La Porte, Carl Moellman, III of Fish Lake, Nathan Moellman of La Porte, David Moellman of Fish Lake, Lois Moellman of La Porte, Bethany (Robert) Kasten of La Porte, James Moellman of La Porte, and Steven Moellman of La Porte; 13 grandchildren, V. Keith Kasten, Paul and Michael Searing, Nathan Martin, Catharyn Ryan, Leonard Spurr, Frederick Czech, Vincent Eigenmann, Alexander Moellman, Kori Mobley, Jacob Moellman, Mark Moellman, and Noelle Anderson; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great-grandchild; sister, Marge Sheetz of Boston, MA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded by her parents; husband, Rev. Carl Moellman, II, who was the Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in La Porte until his passing; son, Philip Moellman; granddaughter, Jessica Magnuson; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.

 

Dorothy was a homemaker.  She also worked with The American Red Cross and as a YMCA Scholarship Coordinator.  Dorothy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. 

 

Dorothy enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles and viewing classic t.v. shows and movies.  She was devoted to her faith and enjoyed learning more through the reading of her Bible.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Ken Schaeffer and Pastor Ronald Brauer officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 111 Kingsbury Ave., La Porte, IN 46350; Worship Anew (https://worshipanew.org); or to the donor's choice.
