Barbara Sian Stanish

Barbara Sian Stanish, 22, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, due to an automobile accident.

 

Barbara was born on September 16, 1998, in La Porte, Indiana to Leon and Amy (Mofield) Stanish. She is survived by her parents, Leon and Amy Stanish of Rolling Prairie; brothers, Donald and Brandon Stanish of Rolling Prairie; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Stanish; and her maternal grandparents, Argull H. McKeehan Sr., Barbara (Clark) Pfeiffer; and step-grandfather, George Pfeiffer.

 

Barbara began her career with the Indiana Department of Correction in 2019, as a correctional officer at Indiana State Prison, where she was a member of their K-9 team. Agent Stanish then transferred to the Division of Parole Services in May of 2021, at the South Bend Parole District working in Elkhart County. She recently graduated from the Parole Academy in July. She was a 2017 graduate of New Prairie High School and earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Southwestern Michigan College. She was a ten-year member of the 4-H, where she was involved with pigs, goats, sheep, photography, and scrapbooking. She was proud to have her own horse and loved animals. She was an avid 3rd base softball player having played in high school and on travel teams and loved the Alabama Crimson Tide softball team. She was active in Gleaners. While not working, she enjoyed camping, fishing, and ATV riding.

 

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2021, at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church, 109 C. Street, La Porte, Indiana. Burial will follow at St. John Kanty Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Indiana.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
