Dennis Albert Lodell, 74, of Westville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday August 3, 2021 at Franciscan Hospital in Michigan City, IN.

 

He was born October 3, 1946 in Missoula, Montana, the son of A.J. and Betty Jean (Strom) Lodell.

 

Dennis, a forty-year resident of the La Porte area, grew up in Anaconda, Montana and graduated from Anaconda High School. He served in the United States Army, entering as a Green Beret at Fort Bragg and retiring after 22 years as Master Sergeant. He also was a Journeyman Iron Worker for 10 years. On July 14, 1979, Dennis married his wife of 42 years, Gail. Together they lived in both Montana and NW Indiana and enjoyed traveling between the two. Dennis was a Past Worshipful Master of the Acacia Masonic Lodge in Montana and a Shriner with the Baghdad Temple in Butte, Montana. He played golf, enjoyed fishing, going to casinos and traveling.  He loved classic cars, owning 5 Corvettes throughout his life.

 

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Gail Lodell; his son, Craig Lodell; four grandchildren, Austin (Hannah) Lodell, Rebecca Lodell, Madison Lodell, Sarah Powell; two great-grandchildren, Asteria - Rain Lodell, Novalynn Vest; special nieces, Carolyn Baile, Kathy Kargacin.

 

Dennis was preceded in death by his great-grandaughter, Ellie May Lodell.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN.  Cremation has been selected. A Celebration of Dennis' Life will be announced at a later date.
