Michael (Mike) Howell, (Celebration of Life Update)

On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Michael (Mike) Howell, passed away peacefully at the age of 72. 

 

tober 9, 1948 in Mill Creek, IN to Lloyd and Ruth Howell. Growing up, Mike worked on his parent’s farmland, and eventually began his career as a heavy equipment mechanic with Dye Plumbing and Heating and Midwest Operating Union. 

 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ruth. He is survived by his sister, Kathy (Greg) Trevillian; sons Jeremy (Jamie), Nick (Lindsey), Josh (Allison); four grandchildren Gabe, Nolan, Addison, and Kaley; nieces Stephanie (Eric) Hoffman and Cari (Greg) Whittler; along with a close-knit extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. It was in moments where Mike was surrounded by family that he was his happiest, and the list of people who loved him is a mile long. 

 

When asked what things his family would remember the most about his life, there was a common response of his deep love for everyone; his big smile; and the bigger hugs he offered his children and grandchildren. The family shares fond memories of his love for coaching his son's baseball teams as they all grew up, and his involvement with 4-H, teaching classes on small engines. 

 

A Celebration of Life, Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 1 p.m. CST at Oak Grove Cemetery on 600 East in La Porte County.

 

Those who knew Mike knew he hated being fussed over and preferred to avoid being the center of attention.
