Duane L. Hastings, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 4:30 a.m. with his family by his side.

 

Duane was born in LaPorte, IN on March 24, 1947 to the late Donald and Casmira (Wiwatoski) Hastings.  He graduated from LaPorte High School in 1965 before serving his country during the Vietnam War.  He spent his life as a carpenter in the LaPorte area, building countless residential and commercial properties.  He was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed playing golf, cooking, and spending time with his family.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dennis and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years Sharon, son Laine (wife Holly) and daughter Devon (fiancé Lee Hunsberger). 

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Ave La Porte, IN where a graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 3rd at 11 am at Patton Cemetery La Porte, IN.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter.
