David A. Kintzele

David A. Kintzele, 72, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at his home with the love of his family around him.

 

He was a “Warrior” in his 2 ½ year battle with Lymphoma, supported by his loving family. “In this family no one fights alone.”

 

He was born January 14, 1949, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Edward and Daisy Kintzele. Dave had seven siblings.

 

Dave honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving in the 101st Airborne from 1969 to 1970. He worked for a brief time for the South Shore Railroad before joining the Indiana State Police in 1972 where he proudly served for 38 years. Dave was a Crime Scene Investigator for 24 years of his service with the state police, earning numerous commendations for his outstanding work.

 

In 1974, he married his best friend, Beverly (Butler) Kintzele. They truly enjoyed a wonderful life together. Dave was extremely proud of his sons. They have a terrific family.

 

After Dave’s retirement in 2009, He treasured spending time with his fun-loving grandson, Adam. He was such a proud Papa and loved Adam to the moon and stars. While He shared a deep love for family, and also appreciated the value of many wonderful friendships.

 

Dave and Bev loved taking vacations with their sons especially to Florida (Disney World) and Mt. Rushmore. They played lots of mini golf on their travels and enjoyed the Wisconsin Water Parks. Dave and Bev also liked to put the golf clubs in the van and head out on a road trip. Together they visited 48 states and many National Parks.

 

They also enjoyed bus trips to the east coast with their “family of friends” and Branson trips with their “Farkle friends,” they would never forget!

 

Dave was an avid bowler (3 perfect games) and really enjoyed golf. Bev and Dave loved dancing and belonged to the Amarillo Star Dance Club where they would dance the night away!

 

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Kintzele of Michigan City; two sons, Scott (Tabatha) Kintzele of New Carlisle, IN and Tony (Lee) Kintzele of Goodland, IN; four siblings, Ed (Sandy) Kintzele, Dan Kintzele, Ron Bowman and Pat Kintzele; five grandchildren, Adam Kintzele, Roxanne (Jesus) Lopez Jr., Jennifer (Michael) Rocha, Jose (Marlen) Rocha III and Heather (German) Rocha; nine great grandchildren, Michelle, Nathaniel, Kassandra, Desmond James, Daleyza, Daleyla, EJ, Haylee and German; numerous nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; and two brothers, Jim and Bill Kintzele; and one sister, Nancy Wilander.

 

Cremation will take place. A gathering of friends and loved ones will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100.
