Mary K. Eddy, 92, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 at Oak Woods Manor in La Porte, IN.

 

She was born February 4, 1929 in Morgantown, West Virginia, the daughter of Jasper Bland Phillips and Lucy Jane (Mayfield) Phillips.

 

Mary lived a very diverse lifestyle. Her family was her passion and extremely very important to her. Mary was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher, loved needlepoint and quilting as well as basket weaving. She enjoyed taking long walks. As a homemaker, she would can vegetables and strawberries. She also raised chickens and would sell her brown eggs to family and friends.

 

On May 28, 1948, in West Virginia, she married Robert Carl Eddy who preceded in death.

 

She is survived by her son, David C. (Carole) Eddy of Valparaiso, IN; daughter, Kathryn A. (Steve) Hultgren of Fishers, IN; Two Brothers, Donald Phillips of Michigan City, IN, George Henry Phillips of Morgantown, WV; granddaughter, Cheryl; two grandsons, Kyle, Elliott; step-granddaughters, Kim and Lori.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Martha L. Evanto, brothers, Marlin, Richard and Everett Phillips.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A life celebration will be held at (to be determined), at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church 3444 US-20 Rolling Prairie, IN with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Cremation has taken place.
