Jim Shepherd, 69, of Kingsford Heights, passed away peacefully Monday, May 17, 2021 at Northwest Health, La Porte.

 

He was born May 28, 1951, in La Porte, Indiana, to Felix and Alice (Shepherd) Shepherd.

Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 434, Kingsford Heights, volunteering his time to present the 21-gun salute to other Veterans. Jim enjoyed dressing up and playing Santa during the Christmas Season, going to schools and various stores. He enjoyed playing cards with family in his spare time.

 

On April 28, 1973, in Kingsford Heights, Indiana, he married Karen (Volk) Shepherd, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his children, Alice Faye Williams, Virginia Geraldine Shepherd, Felix Patrick Shepherd and Elizabeth Rose Shepherd; stepchildren, Maida Eaton and Jonathon “Johnny” Eaton; four siblings, Willis (Cheryl) Shepherd, Faye Shepherd-Christenson, Frank Shepherd and Charles (Barb) Shepherd; grandchildren, Kaela, Taris, Zane, Bryce, Asher, Elloran, Jaxon and Siobhan.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; one brother, Claude Shepherd; and one brother-in-law, Dean L. Christenson.

 

Cremation will take place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
