Russell Titus

Russell Titus, 74, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 comfortably at his home in Colorado.

 

He was born April 8, 1946 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Richard Russell Titus and HonoreneJune (Smith) Titus. He was lovingly reared by his grandparents, James C. and Esther F. Smith of La Porte, Indiana.

 

He graduated from La Porte High School and married his high school sweetheart, Sandra L. Barcus in 1966. They remained married for over 54 years. Rusty graduated from Northwestern University where he received Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Material Science Engineering. He worked within the micro-electronic field for over 33 years with Teletype, NCR, Symbios and LSI Logic while living in Chicago, Illinois, Centerville, Ohio, Ft. Collins, Colorado and Colorado Springs, Colorado. His retirement years were spent traveling, and enjoying time with his wife, family and friends.

 

Rusty grew up on a lake and enjoyed boating, swimming and other lake activities. Russ was known for his quick wit and passionate storytelling. He elicited tears of joy and laughter from so many over the years. He enjoyed golf, traveling with family, target shooting, chess, movies and all types of music. He exercised his passions by joining various clubs, often performing live music and accepting leadership roles in Orchestra, Band, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lynn (Barcus) Titus of Colorado Springs, Co; brother, Leon C. Lanning (Lili) of Galveston, In; three children, Eric Russell Titus (Melanie Murphy) of Louisville, Ky, Denise Lynn Titus of Colorado Springs, Co. and Kelly Jeanne Titus Glover (Jamall) of Clarksville, In.; thirteen grandchildren, Lauren (DeLuca) Bleecker (Nathan), Danielle (DeLuca) Howland (Evan), Bennett Titus, Sebastian Titus, Dalton Titus, Langston Titus, Finley Titus, Jasmine Drake, Alex Titus, Morgan Glover, Camille Glover, Olivia Glover and Julian Glover. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Rusty was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

 

A memorial service is being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN 46350. The service is open to all friends and family at 2:30pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021. His final resting place will be at Wills Township Baptist Cemetery in La Porte County, Indiana.
