Jerry Dean Wallace

Jerry Dean Wallace, 83, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Monday, May 3, 2021.

 

Jerry was born on March 16, 1938, in La Porte to Milton Lewis Wallace and Hazel Rose Grieger.

 

Jerry graduated from La Porte High School in 1956 and served in the United States Army after graduation. Later, Jerry worked for Bethlehem Steel and received a bachelor’s degree in history from Purdue University. Most recently, he was the co-owner with his wife and president of Parcel Port on Michigan Avenue in La Porte. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a beloved member of the community.

 

Jerry married Marlene Ann Larson on October 14, 1961, at St. Peter Parish in La Porte and together had six children, Mary Elizabeth (William) Power of La Porte, Joanna Marie (Michael) Connors of Beverly Shores, Indiana, John Paul (Karen Nicholls) Wallace of East Lansing, Michigan, Peter John (Kelye Martin) Wallace of Syracuse, Indiana, Timothy John Wallace of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Margaret Mary Wallace-McDonald of St. John, Florida; grandchildren, Broc Power, Marlee Power, Theresa Connors, Christopher Wallace, Danyl Wallace Brown, Erin Wallace Curry, Dylan Wallace, Anna Wallace, Jack Wallace, and Thomas McDonald; and a great-grandson, Ashe Brown. He is also survived by a sister, Joan Lewis Arnold, and many nieces and nephews.  

 

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.  A Parish Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon, Monday, May 10, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church in La Porte. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1110 Monroe Street, La Porte, Indiana 46350, or the Salvation Army.
