Elvera "Vera" May Travis, 91, of Michigan City, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family. 

   

Vera was born in Donora, PA, on January 30, 1930 to Carmen and Mary Marie (Volp) De'Gidio. 

 

On August 14, 1950 in Monongahela, PA, she married Robert, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2005.  Robert and Elvera enjoyed 54 years of marriage. 

 

Surviving Vera are her children, Robert D. Travis, Jr of Agusta, WI and Jean (Dennis) M. Guzman of Michigan City; 4 granddaughters, Darcy (Jeff) Kindelan, Jennifer Konkey, Sharon (Michael) Braniger, and Hilary (Andy) Combs; 1 grandson, Dennis C. T. Guzman; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and one more expected; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and husband, Robert D. Travis, Sr.

 

Vera and Robert moved to Michigan City in 1963, after leaving Monongahela, PA for new employment.  Vera was a homemaker, which was not only her full time job, but also her hobby.  She will lovely be remembered as  the best mother and grandmother.  Vera was easy to love because of her big heart, particularly with helping others.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

 

A Private Family Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
