Bernie Metcalf

Bernie Metcalf, 60, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

 

He was born January 18, 1961 in La Porte, the son of Kenneth Metcalf and Catherine (Shrader) Metcalf.

 

On October 2, 1982 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah, Bernard married Ann E. Koselke Metcalf, who survives.

 

He is also survived by his two sons, Erik (Reina) Metcalf of Menomonee Falls, WI, Scott (Amy) Metcalf of Ft. Hood, TX; daughter, Kristian Metcalf of La Porte, IN; brothers, Dennis of La Porte, Kenneth of La Porte, Gerald of La Porte, Lawrence (Phyllis) of La Porte, Terry (Jan) of Bradenton, FL;  sister, Marlene Bedell of Fairchild, WI; sister-in-law, Kay Metcalf of La Porte; The Out-Law, Kenny Bob Metcalf of La Porte; eight grandchildren, Timothy (Whitney) Coert, Oliver (Alyssa) Coert, Kassandra Coert, Adrian Metcalf, Walker Moore, Brooke Moore, Olive Metcalf, Kristopher Metcalf and several nieces and nephews.

 

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Terence Metcalf; sister, Sharon Schlicker; brother, Virgil Metcalf.

 

A lifelong resident of La Porte County, Bernie was a catholic who attended both St. Peter's and Sacred Heart Church. Over the years he worked as a trucker, a farmer and more recently as a welder, owning TC Welding and Design.  He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, fishing, or welding decorative iron, especially if he could be with the joy of his life, his grandchildren.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for a viewing from 6-9 p.m. Friday March 26, 2021.  A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 27 at Patton Cemetery.  La Porte catholic churches will be conducting the ceremonies.  Anyone attending the ceremonies is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  There will be a remembrance luncheon after the service at the La Porte American Legion until 3:00 p.m.
