Dorothy J. Schroeder, 93 of Rolling Prairie, Indiana passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021.

On February 16, 1946 Dorothy married Harold E. Schroeder who preceded her in death on November 13, 2010.  She also was preceded by a daughter, Judith Schroeder; and a son, James Schroeder.

 

Dorothy was employed with the former Levine’s Department Store and retired from Howmet after many years of service. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and volunteered at the St. John’s Lutheran Thrift Store. She was a member of the Rolling Prairie Lions Club and a former Kankakee Township Assessor.

 

Dorothy is survived by daughters, Jayne (John) Piraccini of Mishawaka, Indiana and Janet Schroeder of Plantation, Florida; two sons, Jerry (Katherine) Schroeder of Chesterton, Indiana and Jeffrey Schroeder of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; grandchildren, Matthew Schroeder, Scott Schroeder, Angie (Tim) Weber, Jennifer (Brett) White, Melina (Erik) Sample, Cameo Piraccini, John Piraccini II, Anthony Piraccini, Luke Piraccini, Ryan Piraccini, Samantha (Ernesto) Cavazos, and Rick (Amanda) Escobedo; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Kyle, Arabelle, Lola, Andre, Oscar, Calabria, Lorenzo, Ayla, Lucas, Audrey, Ivan, and Christopher.

 

A private family funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 – 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or School, 111 Kingsbury Avenue, La Porte, Indiana 46350.
