Stephen A. Kray, November 15, 1943 – February 15, 2021. After a three-year battle with melanoma, Stephen Kray, Attorney-At-Law, has found peace.
He was born to Stephen and Janet (Orzyp) Krasowski in Chicago, IL.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Barbara and four step-children Brandon Mitchener of Brussels, Belgium; Jared Mitchener of Indianapolis, IN; Lara August-Chambers of San Antonio, TX; and Natasha Stollman of Carmel, IN; 3 daughters: Laura (Sarah, Riley, Elijah, Torin) of Bloomington, IN; Shelby (Lily, Emil) of Portland, OR; and Gina (Ellyon) of Kona, HI. Also a sister Kathy Malstrom of Fayetteville, AK, two brothers Richard of Los Angeles, CA and Michael of Greenwood, IN; a niece Erin and nephews Derek and Devon.
Stephen a true dog whisperer, leaves behind his beloved “Office Dog” Presley and another Yorkie, “Lil Bit, and a blue heeler “Koda”.
Stephen attended Sacred Heart Elementary, graduated from La Porte High School and Indiana School of Law. He was admitted as an attorney and counselor of the U.S. Court of Appeals (7th Circuit) on November 8, 1996.
While his occupation was administering social justice as a hardworking lawyer, his true passion was gardening as evidenced by the rock garden, waterfalls, and Koi ponds at his longtime Country Club residence. Other interests were John Wayne and James Bond movies, reading ancient history and the classics, and his impeccable dress code.
A very special “Thank you” to Drs. Olson and Bishop, and the many nurses at the University of Chicago for their care in his cancer journey. To his many clients, he loved serving your needs. His patience and kind manner will not be forgotten.
A private memorial will be held for the family and guests in the spring where his cremated remains will come to rest in his favorite place on earth.
