Terry Joan Wozniak

Terry Joan Wozniak, 66, of New York City, formerly of La Porte, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York where she had recently retired as a Registered Nurse for many years.

Terry was born July 18, 1954, in Russian-occupied Poland and later adopted as a child by James W. and Joan S. (Conjalka) Wozniak.  She absolutely adored her puppies, Molly and Suzy.  She was a member of St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church in New York City.

Terry spent her life serving others, her chosen vocation being a nurse.  Graduating from Holy Cross School of Nursing in South Bend in 1975, she first cut her teeth as a nurse in Chicago before taking her talents to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City in 1983.  There, she came in to her own as the staunchest of patient advocates, demanding both excellence and caring of her coworkers no matter how powerful or intimidating the doctor might have been.  She had just retired last year after 36 years of dedicated service.

Terry is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Wozniak of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; nieces and nephew, Leah (Dan) Anderson of Lakeland, Florida, Paul (Tina) Wozniak of Zanesville, Ohio, Lana (Patrick) Wooden of Fishers, Indiana; a host of grand nieces and nephews, Daniel IV, Joshua, Katie, Leo, Brianna and James; her special friends, Peggy, Jean, and Tina; all her co-workers/work-family at Lenox Hill Hospital; and her dear friends at Sherman Towers in New York City, where she called home the last 25 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Joan S. (Conjalka) Wozniak, and brother, Dennis Wozniak.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 Bach Street, La Porte, Indiana.  Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to any Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
