William Lane Jr., 73, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at his home in La Porte, IN.

 

He was born December 28, 1947 in Harrisburg, Arkansas, the son of William Lane Sr.and Ruby (Brown) Lane.

 

Known as Bill, he was a scientist, musician, and Christian. Bill was a 1965 Elston grad, and went on to earn a degree in Chemistry afterwards, making a career in the environmental field. He was a Vietnam veteran (US Army 1967-1969) who suffered from Agent Orange exposure. He loved his dogs and was an avid motorcyclist and photographer his whole life.

 

He is survived by his Step-Son, Barry (Charity) Oliver and Barry's twin children Briggs and Ainsley of La Porte, IN; adopted son, Brandon (Denny) Lane and Brandon's son Dhamon Lane; Also surviving are his mother Ruby, and his three younger brothers, Lonnie, Terry, and Richard.

 

William was preceded in death by his father and his wife Cheryl.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends.  A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Friday March 5, 2021 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dennis Pickens officiating.  Cremation to follow.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the La Porte County Animal Shelter 2855 N-2 La Porte, IN 46350 in his name.
