Thomas Kissinger, 72, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, February 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving daughters.
He was born November 7, 1948 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Claude and Violet (Lute) Kissinger.
A lifelong resident of the area, Thomas served in the Indiana National Guard from 1969 to 1975. He was an operating attendant for I/N Tek Steel until his retirement in 2016 and a proud member of the Steel Workers Union local 9231. Thomas was a pitcher and first baseman for softball teams in La Porte for many years. He loved to travel, especially to Mexico, where he went deep sea fishing for Tuna and Marlin. Thomas enjoyed socializing and listening to live music whenever possible. His friends and family brought him true joy!
Thomas is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Peeples of La Porte, IN, Chris (Steve)McQuarters of La Porte, Valerie (Shawn) Barrett of New Carlisle; brother, Mark (Josie) Kissinger of Mesquite, TX; four sisters, Sue Kissinger of Reno, NV, Louise (Don) Forsythe of Terre Haute, IN, Cathy Kissinger of Hamlet, IN, Betsy Murphy of Ossian, IN; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Pam Kissinger.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. The family has chosen a private graveside service at Kingsbury Cemetery following cremation, with a celebration of Thomas' life to be announced at a later date.
The family would like to thank the exceptional staff, and more specific Dr. Moore, Dr. Sim and Dr. Lee at the Simon Cancer Center for their above and beyond care of our father.
