Joanne Anna White, 76, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 5, 2021, surrounded by her family.

 

Joanne was born on November 16, 1944 in Heimbach, Germany, to Josef and Anna Zajac.

 

On October 25, 1969 in La Porte, Joanne married Chuck White, who survives. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.   In addition to Chuck, Joanne is survived by her children: Jill Reese of La Porte, Renee (Kevin) Gillis of Des Moines, Iowa, and JC (Ashley) White of Michigan City; 4 grandchildren: Audrey, Jack and Brad Reese of La Porte and Marlee White of Michigan City; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Katherine, Marie and Sophie; and one brother: Bill.

 

Joanne worked as a secretary for Allis Chalmers, Kenefick & Brennan Law Firm, Crichfield Elementary School and La Porte High School before she retired in 2010. She was a member of Kitchen Kin and for 50 years a member of a card group of her closest friends. She loved gardening, making stained glass projects for her family, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place later this summer.
