Betty Jean Loomis

Betty Jean Loomis, 94, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.

 

Betty was born on March 19, 1926 in La Porte, IN, to Leo and Ida (Trubey) Dadlow.

 

On October 20, 1949, she married Robert Watson, who preceded her in death on June 12, 1964.  Later, in September 1977, she married Richard Loomis, who preceded her in death in January 2019.  Surviving Betty are her children, Stephen (Kristi) Watson of La Porte, Thomas (Judith) Watson of Gray, TN, Bruce (Marjory) Watson of La Porte, and Barbara (Kent) Hocker of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded by her parents, husbands, and 2 sisters.

 

During her early working years, Betty worked on B24 planes as a "Rosie the Riveter".  She later became a homemaker. 

 

Betty enjoyed cooking, dancing, traveling, and playing cards.  She was a whiz at desserts.  Friends and family enjoyed her award-winning apple pie.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Ronald Brauer officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. 

 

Due to the recent Governor's Order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing of six feet.
