Sharon J. Eskridge

Sharon J. Eskridge, 84, of La Porte, IN, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, at Miller's Health and Rehab in New Carlisle, IN.

 

She was born September 17, 1936, in Shelby, Indiana, the daughter of Vergil and Bernice (Kendall) Luchene.

 

On September 17, 1955, in Michigan City, IN, she married Gene Eskridge, who preceded her in death.

 

A resident of the area since 1955, Sharon was a member of the La Porte Missionary Church as well as a member of The Assembly of God Church.   She worked for Kinney Shoes as an Assistant Manager, retiring after 32 years.  Sharon had many interests in life. She enjoyed quilting for the church and being a Missionette Leader with the Assembly of God Church. She loved cleaning the church with her husband for many years as well.  While her family was her greatest passion,  Sharon also enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, (not cooking, that was her husband's role), reading, craftwork, and traveling, going to such places as Branson, MO. with her late husband, Gene.

 

Sharon is survived by her daughters, Darla (Steven) Clough of Highland Village, TX; Dayna Stacy of Jackson, KY; Monica (Wes) Juszkiewicz of La Porte, IN; brother, Kevin Luchene of Indianapolis, IN; 10 grandchildren Krystal, Benjamin, Blake, Adam, Amber, Tara, Nick, Christopher, James, and Tammy; as well as 21 great-grandchildren.

 

Along with her husband Gene, Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Terry and Kenneth Luchene and a grandson, Daniel E. Clough.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 on Friday, January 22, 2021.  A life celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeffrey Starkey, officiating.  Interment will follow at the Swan Lake Mausoleum, Michigan City, Indiana. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks must be worn and social distancing observed when attending these events.
