Shirley Morris, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at NW Health-La Porte.

 

She was born December 5, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, the daughter of A.H. and Kathryn (Sterling) Knutsen.

 

On December 26, 1972, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Shirley married the late Robert Morris and shortly afterward they moved to La Porte. She worked as a secretary for Boise Cascade, currently Graphic Packaging, Inc., which she retired from after 27 years in 1999. Shirley was a member of First United Methodist Church, La Porte and loved singing in the church choir.  She was a former member of the Michigan City Women of the Moose #935, enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, and was an avid reader.

 

Shirley is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Jane Morris;  a host of close friends, including Marcia (Gary) Alexander, JoAnn (Marvin) Erby, John (Dawn) Krishack, , Mark (Lesa) Hill, Lois Hagglund, Becky Read; and many "adopted" grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her cousin Jeffrey Knutsen; close friend, Marian Krickshack and her beloved Pomeranian pup, Buffy.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN., where a private memorial service will be held with interment at Pine Lake Cemetery.  Pastor Bob Vale, First United Methodist Church, will be officiating.
