Stephen "Steve" Alvin Mills, 57, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his home. 

   

Steve was born in La Porte, IN, on November 1, 1963 to Thomas Clark and Sharon Jeanne (Guibert) Mills. 

 

Surviving are his children, Stephen P. Mills, Emily Mills, and Joseph Mills, all of La Porte; brothers, Garry (Ellen) Mills of St. Peters, MO and Thomas (Mary) Mills of Lebanon, IN; sister-in-laws, Patricia (Jeffrey) Sipe of South Bend, IN and Deborah E. Pontius of Middletown, IN; his children's mother, Rebecca D. Nevills of La Porte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

 

Steve was a carpenter, working as a contractor.  He enjoyed watching and driving racecars, especially his red car, numbered 17.  Steve also enjoyed building and working on projects.  He loved being outdoors, camping, and spending time with his dog.  Steve also enjoyed his time as an assistant Scout Master.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

   

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Father Nate Edquist officiating.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. 

 

Due to the recent Governor's Order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing of six-feet.  Also, we are limited to 50 people in the building at any given time.  We kindly ask for your patience as we oversee these mandated guidelines.
