Virginia R. Irk

Virginia R. Irk, 95, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 8:03 pm in VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso, IN.

Private services will be conducted. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

She was born November 12, 1924 in Michigan City, IN to the late Nicholas and Lucille (Loetz) Dabkowski. On October 5, 1946 in Michigan City, IN she married Roy Irk who preceded her on July 5, 2004.

Surviving are three sons, Dan Irk, Tom (Debbie) Irk and Roger (Niparat) Irk, all of Michigan City, IN; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Magaret Caddo and Margene Bates, both of Michigan City, IN; brother, Joseph (Arlene) Dabkowski of Michigan City, IN; and many other family members.

She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Edith Barnes, Bernice Beres, Lucille Gill, Dorothy Foldenauer, Gladys Radke and Henrietta Kriesel; and her brother, Nicholas Dabkowski.

Virginia had worked as a cook for the Michigan City Area Schools and in the dietary department of St. Anthony Hospital. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where is was involved with many activities and the Michigan City Senior Center. Virginia enjoyed playing bingo and bunco.
