Evelyn Mary Mick

Evelyn Mary Mick, May 10, 1935-July 27, 2020,  85, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020, at her home in La Porte

 

She was born May 10, 1935, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas and Carey (Jadszczak) Kuta. A resident of La Porte for many years, Evelyn worked at Vogue Cleaners in Hammond, retiring in 1987.  She came from a large family and because of her caring heart, she was a worrier, always concerned about others. Evelyn had a special love for her family and always put them ahead of herself.  Her joys in life were taking care of her home, going to garage sales, playing bingo, cards, and doing puzzles. She enjoyed cooking and baking as well. Evelyn liked listening to Elvis, Dolly Pardon, Loretta Lynn, and Lawrence Welk. She was blessed to have a special companionship over the last several years with Phil Mazciviech.

 

Evelyn is survived by her three sons, James A. (Cindy) Mick Jr. of Scottsborough, AL, Tony Kuta, Raymond Kuta; three daughters, Evelyn (Eddie) Schwitters of Lowell, IN, Roberta (Tom) Bass of Summerville, SC, Janice Messinio of Griffith, IN; seven grandchildren, Lacee (Josh), Brett (Mary), Alex (Lauren), Tyler (Brooklyn), Alisia (David), Antonio (Marina), Alina; 9 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Joe, Richard, Stanley, and Sonny Kuta; two sisters, DelorisDusseau, Ilene Pointon.

 

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband James Mick; her parents; brother’s Frank, Eugene, Ed, Junior and Walter Kuta; sisters, Geraldine Wedow, Helen Pointon, Dorothy Kuta, and a great-grandson Samuel.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, July 31 from 4-7 pm and Saturday, August 1 beginning at 2 pm.  A Celebration of Evelyn's Life will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home on Saturday, August 1 at 4 pm, with Pastor Bob Vale officiating.  Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana.

 

Memorial donations in Evelyn's honor may be made to the family in care of Haverstock Funeral Home.

 

Due to the Indiana Executive Order, masks will be required for anyone attending these ceremonies.
