Jacob Eugene Brown, 86, of La Porte, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at his home. 

   

Jacob was born in La Porte, IN, on May 12, 1934, to Jacob Elmer and Edith V. (Patterson) Brown. 

 

On June 20, 1954, in Greentown, IN, he married Doris Kee who preceded him in death on April 26, 2011.  Surviving are his children, Karen M. Brown of Chicago, IL, Kevin L. Brown of La Porte, Katherine S. (Daniel) Johnson of Valparaiso, Kristine L. (Michael) Flanagan of La Porte, and Kurt E. (Sue) Brown of La Porte; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Jacob Yoder; and 2 sisters, Lorraine and Alice Mae.

 

Jacob was a US Navy Veteran serving on the USS New Jersey BB-62 during the Korean War.  Jacob was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.  He retired from Midwest Steel as an Electronics Technician.  After his retirement, Jacob worked for the State of Indiana as a Signal Technician. 

 

A Celebration of Life Service with full military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow the service.

 

Due to the recent Governor's Order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask.
