Duryne Lois Porter

Duryne Lois Porter, 100 of La Porte, Indiana passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020.  Duryne was born on October 31, 1919, in Freeman, South Dakota to Henry and Josephine (Metzner) Mensch.  She retired as a Beauty Operator and elementary school teacher with the La Porte Schools.  She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in La Porte and graduated from Purdue University with a master’s degree. 

 

On November 29, 1940, Duryne married Lloyd A. Porter who preceded her in death on May 5, 2002.  Surviving is her son, Dr. David L. Porter of La Porte; seven grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Mensch, Lieutenant Colonel of Fairfax, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by a son, Verleon H. Porter; a grandson, Leonard Porter; a sister, Margaret Dodd; and a brother, Vernon Mensch.

 

Private services and burial will take place.  Arrangements by, Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
