William "Bill" Clifton Olson

William “Bill” Clifton Olson, son of the late Olaf Olson and Elsa Johnson Olson, was born on February 10th, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois.

He was an only child; exuberant, inquisitive, and full of life. He joined the Navy and received the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Award, and Navy Occupation Medal during his terms.

On June 5, 1950, he married the love of his life, Hattie (Sawicki) Olson. This union was blessed with four children and 59 years of marriage. Hattie preceded him in death on October 5, 2009.

A devoted husband and father, Bill was a spiritual man involved in many church activities. A trustee at Eastside Methodist Church, he notably loved being of service to his church. He later became an active and dedicated member of the Westville United Methodist Church where he loved helping the Friday fish fry. His life was filled with a dedication to Christ and a passion to live each and every day to the fullest. His legacy will live beyond his years here on Earth. He quietly departed at the age of 90, on June 2nd, 2020 at this home in Westville, Indiana; one week after suffering a heart attack.

A Mason of 50 years, Bill will be remembered for his fun-loving and spirited sense of humor, grandiose firework displays, and his celebration and embrace of life.  He will forever be cherished by his children:  Jim (Sharon) Olson, Kris (Debra) Olson, Dawn (Gerry) Gora, and Dean (Constance) Olson; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cremation will take place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
