Michele Renee Voorhees, 51, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 7:07 a.m., Monday, May 25, 2020, in her home.

 

She was born May 24, 1969, in North Judson, Indiana, to Jesse and Mary (Campbell) Stacy.

 

Michele graduated from San Pierre High School in 1987. She did missionary work in her 20s and was a stay at home mother. Michele was a great organizer. Her life enjoyments were playing Sims, coloring, photography, cooking new recipes, conversions, and being with family and friends.  She also enjoyed her little dog, Phoebe by her side. Michele was a loving wife and mother of two.

 

On October 26, 2002, at White Eagle Park, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Derrick Voorhees, who survives.

 

Also surviving are her father, Jesse Stacy of Toto, IN; two children, Jeremy Voorhees age 17 and Jessica Voorhees age 15 both of La Porte, IN; three brothers, Mike (Liz) Stacy of Medaryville, IN, Jesse (Cindy) Stacy of Mansfield, TX and Ray (Mike) Stacy of South Bend, IN; mother and father-in-law, Annette and Al Voorhees of La Porte, IN; two brothers-in-law, Donald (Danielle) Voorhees of Massachusetts and Darren (Cathy) Voorhees of Duncan, OK; two sisters-in-law, Deanna (Allen) Biffle of Duncan, OK and Amanda Voorhees of La Porte, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend.

 

Preceding in death was her mother, Mary Stacy on February 24, 2017.

 

Cremation will take place. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2020, at 6887 West 450 North, Michigan City, Indiana 46360 (Off of Johnson Road.)
