Garrett “Nick” Nicholas Sons, 58, of La Porte, passed away unexpectedly at 10:08 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2020, in his home.

 

He was born April 1, 1962, in Manchester, Tennessee, to Nick and Louise Sara (Prince) Sons.

 

Nick was a loving husband and father who deeply cared for and loved his family. He was a sweetheart to his wife, making sure she was well-kept care of, including their children. Nick was a family-oriented man. He enjoyed refinishing furniture. Nick will be greatly missed.

 

On July 30, 2009, in Crown Point, Indiana, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Elizabeth (Koselke) Sons, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his two sons, Adam Skoczek, who he loved desperately, of Michigan City and Alex Turner of Missouri; two stepdaughters, Aldrianna and Hollie Skoczek of Chesteron, who both brought him so much joy and laughter; six sisters, Diane Erenberg of La Porte, Opal Lewis and Julie Lovin both of TN, Lola Sons of Griffith, IN and Crystal Harris and Dorothy Houx both of IN; four brothers, John Sons, Wayne Prince, Bobby Prince and Billy Harris all of TN; and five grandchildren, Xander, Xavier and Zachary Turner, Isaiah Robinson, and Bella Marciniak.

 

Preceding in death were his parents, Nick Sons and Lousie Harris; one son, Nicholas Sons; one brother, Douglas Sons; and infant brother, Tommy Sons.

 

A visitation and viewing will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100. There will be no service.
