Lorelei “Lori” H. Sherwood, 70, of Michigan City, IN, passed away peacefully at 1:15 p.m., Monday, May 25, 2020, at Franciscan Health Michigan City with her soul mate and daughter by her side.

 

Lori was born on October 8, 1949, in Michigan City, IN, to Richard and Agnes Yankers, who preceded her in death.  Her father passed away when she was 15 and her mother passed away on July 11, 1996.

 

Lori’s special gift was waitressing.  She enjoyed waiting on people and was requested by many wherever she worked.  She served at Tinkers Dam, Pottawatomie Country Club, and most recently until they closed Creekwood Inn.

 

On January 8, 1966 she married her high school sweetheart, Michael R. Sherwood, whom she loved with all her heart and he will miss her terribly.  He said he had her all his life and cannot live without her.  His children will be his support.

 

Lori is survived by three children, David (Mary) Sherwood, Danny (Samantha) Sherwood, and Sandra (Kevin) Bendix; two grandchildren, Kamrin and Krista Bendix, who called her “Mimi” and will greatly miss her.  Also surviving two stepsisters, Terry (Bill) Anderson of North Royalton, OH and Gloria Perry of Port Charlotte, FL; and her best friend and second mother to her children, Sandra Wright.  They have been friends since Lori was 14 and have shared each other’s lives. 

Preceding in death were her parents; and three brothers, Preston and Ira Irwin of Chicago, IL and Mickey Irwin of Wichita, KS.

 

Cremation will take place.  Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
