Raymond "Ray" DeVon Webb

Raymond "Ray" DeVon Webb, 87, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 22, 2020.

 

Raymond was born on February 25, 1933 in Knox City, IN, to Roy and Ada (Riggleman) Webb, Sr.

 

On May 17, 1952 in Door Village, IN, he married Janette Dyer who survives.  Also surviving are his 3 grandchildren, Tammy (Josh) Lawrenz of La Porte, Joni (Jeff) Lawrenz of Rochester, and Paula (Carl) Konda of DeLand, FL; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Aleysia, Evan, Zaeha, Marissa, Angel, Raymond, Cam, Mela, Penny; special son, Tom (Pati) James of Hamlet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Ray was preceded by his parents, Roy and Ada also known by Ray's grandchildren as "Angel"; son, Rex Webb; daughter, Pamela Konda; grandson, Buddy Konda; great-grandson, Baby John; sister, Betty Ricks; and brother, Roy Webb, Jr.

 

Ray served honorably in the US Army.  He was a heavy equipment operator with Delta III being his last place of employment, owned a hardware store and a gravel quarry, and had pastored a church.  He enjoyed traveling to Florida, going to flea markets with his wife and family, throwing  ball, and watching his great-grandson play baseball and great-granddaughter play softball.  Ray studied and taught the Bible.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Jere Gowen officiating.  Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
