Gregory Walenga, 70, Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 4:07 pm in his home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Ann Dill officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Wednesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
He was born June 21, 1949 in Michigan City, IN to the late Eugene and Theresa (Przybylinski) Walenga. On December 16, 1977 in Michigan City, IN he married Julia Butzler who survives in Rolling Prairie, IN.
Surviving are a son, Nathan (Carolyn) Walenga of Kingsford Heights, IN; daughter, Sarah (Ryan Bowerson) Walenga of Rolling Prairie, IN; four grandchildren, Liam Walenga, Payton Walenga, Trent Bowerson, and Paisley Bowerson; sister, Gail (Steve) Walenga Schuhle of Dayton, IN; and his brother, Nicholas (Beth) Walenga of Warsaw, IN.
Gregory retired after 36 years as a coal handler at NIPSCO and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of Vietnam. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing board games, working with his horses, and driving his corvette.
