Kostas "Gust" C. Zissides, 91, of Chesterton, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

 

Gust was born on October 24, 1928 in Ano Mitrousi, Serras, Greece to Christos and Anastasia (Kaneli) Zissides.

 

Surviving are his children, Ann Buhner of Valparaiso and Peter Zissides of Chicago; grandson, Evan Buhner of Chicago; 2 sisters, Marianthi Pantelides and Evangelitsa Hatsinikolaou, both of Serras, Greece; son-in-law, Dave Buhner of Valparaiso; as well as numerous nieces and nephew in the USA and Greece.

 

He was preceded by his parents.

 

Gust was an owner of gas stations and was a horse trainer at Chicago area race tracks before he retired in 2009.

 

He enjoyed horse racing, eating Greek food, socializing with others, and attending family gatherings.

 

A Trisagion Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Burial will follow at Door Village Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Due to COVID-19, the family and funeral home respectfully ask that everyone wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.
