Homer "Pidge" Vankirk Hoke

Homer “Pidge” Vankirk Hoke, 78, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 4:30 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2020 at South Bend Hospice House, South Bend, IN.

 

He was born December 15, 1941, in Washington, PA, to Ross M. and Lottie Jane (Morrison) Hoke.

 

Homer was a member of the PRCU, La Porte. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, games, and always willing to be helpful to whoever needed it. Homer had great hospitality. He will be dearly missed.

 

On November 18, 1967, in Garards Fort, PA, he married Mary “Patty” Patricia (Pratt) Hoke, who survives.

 

Also surviving are his three children, Homer M. L. Hoke of La Porte, Kimberly (Ricky) Armstrong of Kingsford Height and Charles (Lisa) Edward Hoke of La Porte; five sisters, Ruth (Bob) Kovalcheck of Carmichaels, PA, Evelyn (Jim) Grimm of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Madeline (Jim) Cox of Ohio, Karen Phillips of Greensboro, PA and Sharon Wolff of OK; eight grandchildren, David (Betty), Daniel (Stephanie), Joseph, Elizabeth, Tyler, Dominique (Tim), Leanna and Justin; eighteen great-grandchildren; two loving dogs, Lady Bug and Pipsi; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding in death were his parents; one brother, Paul Hoke; one niece, Rochelle “Shelly” Kovalcheck; and one stillborn niece, Baby Girl Cox.

 

Cremation will take place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
