Betty Jean Tolliver, 93, of Wanatah, IN, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020, at The Willows in Valparaiso, IN.

 

She was born September 19, 1926, in Sailor Springs, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Laura (Cooper) Smith.

 

Betty Jean loved to travel and was a member of the VFW La Porte Ladies Auxiliary. She retired after 40 years as a machine operator with American Rubber. 

Betty Jean was married from 1942-1978 to Lindell Vernell "Lynn" Tolliver, who preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Terri Hanna of Wanatah, IN; brother, Willard "Arkie" (Mary Kay) Smith of Avon, IN; grandchild, Jay (Tina ) Wright of Wanatah, IN; great-grandchildren Amanda Costello of Union Mills, IN; Stephen (Jenness) Costello of Valparaiso, IN;  great-great-grandchildren, Riley Dodd, Lillyan Costello, Charlette Costello, and Vivalynn Costello.

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will have a private visitation. Interment will take place at the Patton Cemetery, La Porte, IN.
